Converting Website Visitors Into Subscribers

While seeing a huge number of hits on your website might feel really good, unless those people are also subscribing to your website then you’re not getting a lot out of them viewing your page. High traffic numbers aren’t the best way to track your success. Instead, you need to be focused on subscription conversions that will eventually lead to sales. While this can seem daunting, there are actually a few easy ways to improve your conversion rate and turn visitors into subscribers.

Make Sure Your Content Matches Their Need

If your blog promises to be about home improvement but you spend most of your time talking about your family and your vacations, you won’t get a lot of subscriptions. What you offer on your blog has to match up with what your visitors are looking for. You should always offer solutions to your visitors and give them the information that they’re looking for when they visit your blog.

Keep Updating Regularly

If you don’t update regularly or it has been years since you’ve posted on your blog then you aren’t giving people a reason to subscribe. They’ll subscribe so they can keep up with what you’re doing and so they won’t miss out on any information that you post. If you aren’t updating regularly then there’s nothing for them to miss.

Ask for them to Subscribe

While it may feel silly, you have to ask people to subscribe and then make it really easy for them to do so. They aren’t going to search for a tiny subscribe button at the bottom of your website. Make sure there’s an easy form for them to fill out, and put it on every page of your website if you are really on the hunt for new subscriptions.

Keep Your Posts Varied

While you may post amazing articles, it’s doubtful that people will want to read a long article each time you update your blog. Try including pictures, videos, and other media to break up the monotony. Keeping it fresh and interesting will make people want to stay in the loop and keep them invested in what you have to say.

Take a Hard Look at Your Results

It’s important to keep checking your analytics. If you have made big changes but aren’t seeing any results then you’ll need to sit down and try to figure out what isn’t working. Perhaps your subscription box is annoying popping up on each page. You may try putting pop-up on the main page and then a smaller side bar on each subsequent one. You’ll have to be willing to tweak your content to find the best fit for you and for your visitors.

Remember: the number of visitors to your site isn’t the main goal. If you are in the business of making money you will have to learn to turn those visitors into subscribers and then into paying customers. There’s no better way to do it than to be involved, track your metrics, and be willing to change what doesn’t work.
